Swift slice

Due Sardi, 32 Kingsland Road, E2 8DA

I moved to East London partly because I wanted to drink in a bar in shoe shop. Coming from Nottingham via Battersea, this seemed like the height of cutting edge cool. So for a while, I had many happy times drinking in a shoe shop and eating burgers from the place next door. Then the place next door shut and I realised that it was never really a shoe shop, just a shoe shopfront on a fairly ordinary bar.  So I moved on. Then Due Sardi moved in and everything changed.

Due Sardi has occupied the previously vacant slot next to Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes and operates on a similar basis: you can have your pizza in the bar. However, it is infinitely superior to the previous incumbent. Not only is the pizza some of the best you will find in London, they also deliver to the local area. Living in E8, this means you can get their brilliantly thin, slightly charred and crispy pizzas within twenty minutes of ordering; and without having to shift far from the sofa. Even Mr Fork, who prefers his pizzas doughy and topped with barbecue sauce, thinks they are brilliant. We have tried a few and they have all been excellent, although a Sardinian sausage, olive and rosemary pizza was probably the highlight. Be warned though, they are so good that we have to order three to avoid serious dispute.
